To all the women I didn’t say „Happy Women’s Day” today

Every single day of the year I praise the strong women out there. I praise all those women I haven’t met and I haven’t heard of. I praise the women that are a part of my life and the women that thought me how to be one of them. I’m grateful to those women that showed the world being a woman means strength and toughness. I’m grateful to all those women that are fighting for gender parity no matter what and to all those women that keep motivated even though they are harassed or humiliated at work, at home or on the street just because they are women. I also praise the feminist women for admitting they are what they are in a world where feminism is being seen as something negative. And I praise every single woman on this planet for showing everyone that being a woman is something to be thankful for.

For the cool women in my life

Today I want to say Happy Woman’s Day for all the women I have forgotten to congratulate through the years. For the women that have raised generations. For the women who are fighting for us. For the woman who is my mom and for the woman who is my sister. For the women who are my friends and family and for the women who have served me at every till in the world. For the women who smiled back at me and for the women who had my back every time I needed. For the women who have made my clothes and my food and for the women who have written the books I’ve read. For the women who thought me fighting like a girl is something I should be proud of and for the women who made me wanting more.

This is for all of you.

And last but not least I would like to say Happy Woman’s Day to the young woman I’ve become and whom I’ve forgotten to be thankful for so many times.

The beginnings of the equality we have today

It’s been 107 years since the first official International Woman’s day was held in 1911. After almost 70 years from then, President Jimmy Carter announced the week of 8 March as being the National Women’s History Week. In order to express gratitude towards all those women that made changes in the world and have pressed for progress, in 1987 March has become Women’s History Month. This annual event celebrates women’s achievements and pushes forward towards gender equality.

The theme of 2018’s International Women’s Day is #PressForProgress. With the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away, there has never been a more important time to #PressForProgress. It won’t happen overnight but with support and growing global movement of advocacy, there is hope. It’s time to be gender inclusive.

Let’s all Press For Progress!

How will you #PressForProgress?

When you are out to imPRESS.

When you are at work feeling hard-PRESSed.

When the voice in your head shouts „do not rePRESS”.

In the PRESS rooms of the world.

We must exPRESS our thoughts.

We must PRESS for progress.
